What is a K/D Ratio?

The Kill/Death ratio (K/D) is the single most referenced performance metric in competitive gaming. It answers one fundamental question: for every time you die, how many enemies do you eliminate? A K/D of 1.0 means you break even — dying as often as you kill. Anything above 1.0 means you are winning the attrition war.

The K/D formula

K/D = Total Kills ÷ Total Deaths
KDA = (Kills + Assists) ÷ Deaths

Example: 150 kills and 60 deaths → K/D = 2.50. If you also have 40 assists → KDA = (150 + 40) ÷ 60 = 3.17.
